Okay, I know what you’re thinking.
Beets in a smoothie? Marybeth. What?
While beets aren’t typically classified as a “normal” smoothie ingredient, they are a great way to get more powerful antioxidants and phytonutrients into your body (more on that in the Nutrition BeneFACTs below!)
I didn’t use any sweetener for this smoothie (the cherries, cranberries, and blueberries were enough for me), but you could easily add in some honey if you like your smoothies a little sweeter.
Berry Cherry Beet Smoothie
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup beets (I roasted these, rinsed them, and threw them in the freezer beforehand!)
- 1/2 cup frozen dark red cherries
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 spoonful of chia seeds (for protein + healthy fats – my favorite brand is Salbachia!)
Throw all in a blender and go, go, go!
