March may be one of my favorite months. The weather gets warmer, I can almost start wearing sundresses, and everything is GREEN (aka my favorite color).
When I was younger, March used to be my favorite holiday for a very different reason…the McDonald’s Shamrock Shake.
“The McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is a seasonal green-dyed mint flavored milkshake dessert.”
Not only it is 100% artificial and full of junk, but this sucker packs 470 calories in a SMALL and 65 grams of sugar. Literally 65 grams hahahaha. Now, I don’t count calories, but I do count ingredients, and ingredient lists of “corn syrup, cellulose gum, yellow 5, and blue 1” are just not how I want to treat myself anymore.
However, I used to LOVE these things (my mom can attest that we were very into the Mickey D’s drive-thru back in the day), so sometimes the craving seriously strikes. But ever since I’ve jumped on this clean-eating bandwagon, I feel like my body would seriously implode if I drank one of these. So I decided to put my own healthy twist on this creamy, dreamy shake. All with ingredients that I guarantee you have in your kitchen 🙂 The avocado makes this so creamy and the frozen banana adds to the thickness! I promise, you won’t even be able to taste the spinach.
Clean Shamrock Shake
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 an avocado
- a huge handful of spinach
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
- 3/4 cup vanilla almond milk
- Optional topping of my favorite dark chocolate Salbachia chia seeds or cacao nibs!
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend!
