Golden Milk Latte

Last night I was watching Gilmore Girls and chilling on my couch (lol, what else is new?) when a craving for a warm, comforting drink hit. Not just any warm drink – this chick wanted a latte.

Starbuck’s and I have quite a history. My senior year of college, I would literally drink a Dirty Chai Latte from Starbuck’s EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. It was an addiction. An unhealthy one at that, for my wallet and for my body. Starbuck’s drinks are LOADED with sugar and chemicals. Every once in a while? Sure, friggin’ treat yourself. But every day? Eh, probably not the best idea.

But last night I desperately needed a warm, creamy, frothy, buttery latte. But I also wanted something nutritious and full of antioxidants. I had seen this “golden milk” phenomenon all over the Internet, so I decided to take a stab at it myself.

Golden milk lattes taste unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. They’re nutty, buttery and sweet with a little pinch of savory. I’m sure you’ve seen variations of these all over the Internet, but here’s what I put in mine 🙂

With a combination of anti-inflammatory turmeric and anxiety-reducing maca powder, this latte is sure to become a soothing ritual and put that Skinny Vanilla Latte to shame.

Golden Milk Latte

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups almond milk (I use Califia Farms Vanilla)
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tsp. maca powder
  • 1 dash vanilla extract
  • 1 dash pepper
  • 1 tsp. BUTTER (yes, butter, or ghee or coconut oil will work too!)
  1. Heat the almond milk in a sauce pan until warm. Stir in all of the spices and butter until warm and butter (or ghee/coconut oil) is melted.
  2. Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until frothy.
  3. Pour in a cup and ENJOY 🙂
